Micah Challenge

Micah Challenge is a global movement of Christian aid and development agencies, churches, groups and individuals which aims to deepen people's engagement with the poor to reduce poverty as an integral expression of Christian faith. Micah Challenge takes its name from the prophet Micah, who wrote,

"What does the Lord require of you but to do justice, to love kindness and to walk humbly with your God." (Micah 6:8)

We want to encourage the leaders of all the nations to fulfil their commitments to the Millennium Development Goals to halve absolute global poverty by 2015. CNEC Partners International is an endorsing agency of Micah Challenge. We encourage our supporters to speak out on poverty issues.

The Millennium Development Goals comprise 8 targets to be met by 2015:

1. Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger (reduce by 50% the number of people living on less than $2/day)

2. Achieve universal primary education

3. Promote gender equality and empower women (ensure girls have the same access to education as boys)

4. Reduce child mortality (by two thirds)

5. Improve maternal health (reduce mortality by three quarters)

6. Combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases

7. Ensure environmental sustainability

8. Develop a global partnership for development

If every Christian chooses to act with justice and kindness, walking humbly with God, imagine the impact we can have!
