China, Guizhou

transforming lives in Guizhou

Guizhou, with a population of 30 million, is one of the poorest provinces in China. We partner with various minority groups of Miao, Dong, Buyi and others. Because of the great poverty in this region the building of medical/dental clinics and schools is of great assistance to many villages.

The poorest and remotest areas where our partners work are often not receiving sufficient assistance. The only way that the children will be adequately educated is to provide better facilities and to renovate the old school buildings. Community leaders have requested assistance to do this. Our short-term teams are welcome to teach in these schools and to provide medical screening and care for the students. A typical school has about 250 to 300 students.

Transportation for villagers, especially those in mountainous regions, is a problem due to lack of good roads and public transportation. It often takes a day to journey by donkey or on foot to a medical clinic in another town. Village clinics bring relief to the sick. CNEC/PI, because of its good relations with the local authorities, is given permission to build medical clinics. There are opportunities for short-term medical and dental mission teams from abroad to work in the villages. The local churches also help in translation and other works closely linked with the medical missions.
