Indonesia, Emmanuel Christian University (UKRIM)

transforming lives in Indonesia

An adjunct of Faith Foundation Indonesia, UKRIM (Universitas Kristen Immanuel) was established in 1982 as a tertiary body with a vision to offer quality university education in a Christian environment. It is one of many tertiary institutions in Yogyakarta, the “city of education” in Indonesia. In fact, there are 350,000 students studying in Yogya.

Students choose from undergraduate degrees in Management, Accounting, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Physics. UKRIM has pioneered programs in Christian Education and Christian Music. It also has departments for English Language and Spiritual Development.

Close to Aceh, the island of Nias lost most of its infrastructure and housing in the tsunami of late 2004. A number of the island’s youth have qualified for tertiary studies but the destroyed infrastructure has led to their parents not having the means to pay for their tuition. UKRIM agreed to offer places for these students.

Australians can sponsor tuition for students from Nias and other parts of Indonesia where poverty limits families' choices for their children's education.  View our Sponsor A Project page where you can commit to regular giving that will help to provide tuition, board and lodging.
