Rwanda, APRID

transforming lives in Rwanda

APRID stands for (in French) “Partnership for the Promotion of Inter-religious Relations and Development” in Rwanda. APRID has its roots in the Barakabaho Foundation and was commenced by Venantie Uwishyaka at the invitation of the Barakabaho president, Bishop Alexis Bilindabagabo. He had challenged her to lead a ministry of compassion for Muslims.

APRID was established not only to share the Gospel with Muslims, but also to nurture and care for those who come to faith in Christ. Hundreds of Rwandan Muslims have come to faith. Muslim women who turn to Christ are regularly ostracised from their families and communities, and APRID helps to provide food, clothing, and housing.

Where possible, training for employment is offered to assist people to become self-sufficient as they start their new life. The latest initiative is a series of tie-dye cottage industries planned to stretch across Rwanda.
