Our CEO

Kim Vanden Hengel is CEO of CNEC Partners International.

Kim grew up in country NSW, studied languages at university, then worked with SIM in Niger for 13 years. She taught in a bush village school on the edge of the Sahara. Without running water or electricity, she experienced first-hand the harshness of life which many still experience today, 28 years later. When her first child was born in Niger, he was the only live baby for the whole week at the hospital. Maternal health is still a critical problem in Niger.

As HIV/AIDS spread across West Africa, Kim became involved in training counsellors and setting up a sentinel surveillance site for UNAIDS.

Since returning to Australia in 1996, she has managed aid and mission programs for SIM, then the Archbishop of Sydney's Appeals Unit. Kim has served on the boards of World Vision Australia and CNEC/PI.  She has postgraduate qualifications in international development, HR management and coaching.

She is currently a member of the National Steering Committee of Micah Challenge Australia.

Kim is married to Bart, an Anglican minister in Sydney. They have 3 adult children – Andrew, Christina and Stephanie.
